Building on its existing foundations, at St Paul’s Hostel we created a highly functional space that does not detract from the feeling of home for the patients.

Capitalising on natural light, every bedroom, living, dining and staff space is bright and welcoming. In contrast to the traditional dark and gloomy corridors that often characterise so many age care facilities, we prioritised creating corridors used not just for circulation but also for nurses’ stations, kitchenettes and lounges. Every area is central and easy to access for all staff.

Using bi-fold doors, we positioned the main living room and dining room in between the old and new wing, to facilitate better connectivity and interaction. In addition, we also created a large recreational room that can be manipulated for small group activities or larger events.
